I just found the the speaker of my next is dead. I tried as hard as I can to hit the volume key but still nothing. What I can remember is that the power failed some weeks ago. Is there anything I can check? Thanks! --yufeng

Try this: command-(down-volume) This will mute/unmute the NeXT's internal speaker without touching the headphone's jack...
