There is a faculty member who has purchased a NeXT. He has it configured as a NetInfo network of one. He says that his mail icon continually says that he has mail (i.e. always has the angle-letter or whatever it is). If he opens the mail app, it does not show him having mail, but it he closes the app again, it indicates he has mail. He can send/receive mail fine, but just has this minor problem of not knowing from the icon if he has mail or not. Any ideas? Thanks for your help Ronnie

If he's Quitting it, then it's no surprise--there's nothing running to check for incoming mail. Mail's Application Icon is an envelope with leaves sticking out of it; if you have it docked and there are three dots in the corner it's static. When Mail is running it animates its icon. By choosing "Hide" from Mail's main menu you can have it run in the background to check for new mail. Notes: Don't set Mail to be autolaunched from the Workspace if there's any possibility of logging in twice (e.g. if there are multiple cubes sharing a mail spool). If you leave NeXT Mail running and start another mail reader (such as BSD Mail), they will fight with each other. -=EPS=-
