a low-level formatter for the WrenVI, we finally decided on how to distribute it. As we did not get together with the people as we anticipated, you will now have direct access to TheFormatter that will enable you to format big SCSI-Wren hard drives. From: agm@cs.brown.edu (Axel Merk) Path: brunix!agm We put a copy of it to cs.orst.edu -- check it out if you plan to get a big hard drive and want to save money. Thanks, but unfortunately the program is not there. I checked the submissions directory of cs.orst.edu and found a file named something like "TheFormatter.tar.Z" but it was of zero length. Please send it again. Bryce Jasmer jasmerb@cs.orst.edu BTW, will it also format a Wren V?

I re-submitted TheFormatter.tar.Z to cs.orst.edu, it should have about 95K. The program was orignally written for the WrenVI; in the meantime, it can format WrenIV's and WrenVII's as well. It can be adjusted to format other (SCSI-)Wren drives without major problems. As of now the program was tested on the WrenVI drives and the biggest WrenV drive. We also verfied with the documentation of the WrenVII that our program should be compatible with this drive. Other Wren drives are very likely to be formattable but have not been tested.
