Not quite... You're using different definitions for "base cube."

Developer and University prices for NeXT systems run as follows:

8 MB NeXT with 40 MB Accelerator Drive	$4,995
8 MB NeXT with 40 MB + Optical Drive	$6,495
4 MB RAM Expansion Kit			$  800
400 dpi NeXT Laser Printer $1,995
330 MB HD				$1,995
660 MB HD				$3,995

Actually, NeXT may have lowered prices on their (overpriced) hard drives;
I haven't been paying attention...

If what was posted regarding the Businessland prices was correct, than
the price difference is only $500 for an OD-only system. That's nothing
less than *incredible* if you consider Apple's list prices, which are usually
about twice their developer ones...

A few months ago, Businessland's prices were incredibly high; now, they're
quite competitive with developer/school ones. Let's see Apple try to do
the same... (As if they even could or WOULD.)
