I just bought TopDraw for the NeXT for $112. Suggested retail is $395 for Educational institutions, $595 for business. Here is how Media Logic (and my school) made the $112 price possible. Media logic offers resellers an alternate method of software distribution. Instead of buying shrink wrapped packages with a manual and optical disk, the reseller can buy a Master disk and a number of "Right to Use" licenses. The end user either buys or supplies an optical disk onto which the reseller copies the software. The end user also gets one of the "Right to use" registration cards. What don't you get? You don't get the pretty box or the manual. The manual turns out to be online in TopDraw's help or you can buy a copy from Media Logic for $50. From my discussions with Media Logic, it appears that the reseller is also expected to provide any software support that may be required. If you haven't seen TopDraw yet, do arrange it. It comes with a 10 minute audio-visual demonstration that makes good use of the NeXT's capabilities. Paul Verket verket@venice.sedd.trw.com
