Help! We have a NeXT printer on one of our NeXTs. It is shared to a number of NeXTs and Suns. We have a serious and consistently recurring problem in that whenever there is a job in the print queue and a user logs out of the console, the daemon swaps out - dead - like the bug that was hit by 'raid'. It doesn't matter if print job came from the user at the console or another user rlogged in or from a remote machine using the '-P' flag from the command line. The only way to fix it is to kill and restart the print daemon. But, since it is liable to die again in the next 4-5 hours, we usually just go to another printer, which is a waste of a perfectly good printer. Anyone seen anything like this? Any suggestions? Also, Is there a source of free fonts and/or tiff or eps graphics out there? I am in need of something to fancy up some mailers, and some cool fonts and pictures would do wonders. Thanks, Mark p.s.: Our NeXT rep and some of the NeXT campus consultants came by our lab the other day to see 'what the users need to make NeXTs better and more useful'. Unfortunately, all they were interested in was flash (better DSP, color, etc). They didn't seem interested at all in some of the fixes which our users need to make the @$%^ thing more useful (fix the printer bug, more flexible user-accessible OD mount, etc). Sure, the DSP and all of that would be useful, but what our people need is to get some of the current features to the point where they can be used consistently by Joe Average. Thanks for listening, NeXT.
