For what it's worth there is a very good public domain implementation of Common Lisp available from archive sites on the Internet. Kyoto Common Lisp is written in C, has a good user's manual, comes with complete source and compiles easily on Berkley-derived UNIX systems (at least, we haven't tried it on Sys-V machines). We have standardized to this version so that all our machines run a single version, and the price is great (ie zero dollars at a site near you). For the rabid among you who continue to read more into my postings than is there, this is a public service announcement and has nothing to do with whether the above rumour is true or not. If you would like a public domain version of Lisp, with source, you should check this out. We use it here at McGill and like it. If you are happy with your NeXT products, ignore this posting. - peterd -------------------------------------------------------------------------- +-------+ Peter Deutsch McGill University | u # u | peterd@cs.mcgill.ca School of Computer Science |/\/\/\/| | a a | \ a / "Love my work, hate my job..." \___/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------
