[comp.sys.next] Improv for 040 upgrades

madler@piglet.caltech.edu (Mark Adler) (09/24/90)

I was elated to discover that Improv will come with the 040 upgrade, which
I ordered many moons ago. I quote from a 16 page NeXT blurb that begins:
"Why does the world need a new computer?" and towards the end says:

And just to make our case all the more compelling, we're going to send
a free copy of the extraordinary spreadsheet program, Lotus Improv*
(a $695 value), to everyone who purchases a NeXTstation or NeXTcube
computer by 12/31/90. The same offer is being extended to current
NeXT owners who opt for our 040 upgrade board.

Of course, the asterisk should be carefully examined and it says:

*Lotus Improv will be delivered to owners of all NeXT computers and
040 upgrade boards purchased and registered between now and December
     31, 1990.

For new orders, I don't know if this means you'll have to get delivery
before 12/31---that would be rather nasty, since NeXT could limit shipments
to limit free Improv's. In any case, it means that Improv is probably not
ready for shipment yet, and if you qualify, you'll get it eventually.
