Hello NeXT People, I have plans to purchase a NeXT cube within the next several months. However, I have a common problem that I am sure many of you can empathize with - $MONEY$ I recently (a month ago) graduated with a BS in CS and I have started my own consulting firm for Windows and OS/2 development. The business is going quite well but I am having problems allocating the appropriate funds to secure future R&D projects (many of which I have already started). My long term plans include development on the NeXT. I have read some technical documentation and I am very impressed with the Mach OS, NextStep, and the general approach to hardware that Next, Inc. has taken. (It took some reading to achieve this interest as many whom I have talked to refer to the cube as an attractive table decoration and nothing more than that - I HAVE OBVIOUSLY FOUND THIS NOT TO BE TRUE). Anyway, is it too late for me to get any kind of educational discount? (I suppose it would be) Are there any alternatives for getting access to a NeXT for development? I would greatly appreciate any information on how to purchase a NeXT system, payment plans, etc... This may be inappropriate for this group but I figured it is worth a try. Finally, is there any way for a small development firm to propose development plans to NeXT and somehow convince them that development efforts I intend to complete might be in NeXT Incs' best interest? Any suggestions and comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Robert D. Thompson Object Productivity P.O. You could look for a nearby NeXT and make them a deal (buy time on it, trade your skills for time, ask them to give you some time in exchange for a percentage of the hoped-for profits when you market your package, etc.). You might even go work for another NeXT developer for a while and save some money to buy your own.
