Just a note: I work with a company which has both VAXstations and SUNs: in both cases, system software distribution is available on CD ROMs (in the case of the VAX, ALL of VMS fits on one ROM!) I understand that DEC, at least, will be encouraging users to migrate to CD-ROM distribution VERY SOON (in the next year, if they haven't already; apologies in advance to other DECcers if this isn't accurate). THEREFORE, doesn't it make sense for NeXT to look at this very closely? In a related topic, I read recently somewhere in the myriad of information sources I try to tap that SONY was going to be introducing a read/write CD drive soon. Any feelings/reactions/comments/clarifications on this? Such as when it will be REAL and maybe available on the cube/slab/"slice" (next NeXT?) -- Charlie S.
