I hope the following clarifies the regular/extended 2.0 issue: After reading about the regular/extended split in 2.0 last week on c.s.n: I WAS DISAPPOINTED. Oh no! IB is not bundled? After reading the packet sent to developers and reading the glossies: I WAS DISHEARTENED. Oh no! They're charging for it. Then, I read the single non-glossy on _NeXT Software Release 2.0_ and found the following paragraph: "Although the size of the internal hard disk determines which system software configuration you receive, all system software is licensed to run all NeXT systems [the 105MB come w/ the regular 2.0 and the 340MB come w/ extended]. Thus customers who receive Release 2.0 are --> free to obtain <-- and run any part of Release 2.0 Extended either from a server connected to the same network, --> on a floppy disk from another NeXT owner <--, or by purchasing a set of floppy disks from NeXT." [I put in the emphasis.] Thanks NeXT. This paragraph was not even shortened to a sentence in any of the other pamplets. For example, in the _Fall 1990 List Prices_ on page 16 where the details of the Software Release 2.0 are listed, there is no mention of this 'policy'. So, if you are puchasing a "slab" and an external HD from someplace else then you can still get Extended 2.0 from another NeXT owner at your leisure for FREE - NeXT has given you the freedom as I understand from the paragraph. -- Kamlesh Trivedi - ...!uunet!motcid!trivedik - My opinions not Motorola's "That, anyway, is what I have learned." - _El Hablador_
