The way I understand it, ALL or at least some 1986 cars will have a center mounted rear brake light mounted up higher that the taillights. Now, is this for *all* 1986 cars, or just a few? Is it a law, or something the automakers are doing on there own? What vehicles will get them? What about strange shapes, like a Mazda RX-7, or a cheese wedge shaped import? I am thinking of ordering a Jeep Cherokee (the little one) and am wondering if it will get one since the government claasifies these things and the Blazer and Bronco as "special purpose vehicles", not as "cars". What about pickup trucks? If anyone in Detroit that knows is reading (or Ohio, where I believe the Cherokee is produced) the net may appreciate a response. Thanks in advance. Bob Lagasse

This is only what I have heard, so take it for what it is: As I understand it, 1986 automobiles whose brake lights have less than a specified distance between them must be fitted with a center brake light.
