Does anyone know what kind of software will be available for programming the NeXTDimension graphics board? The board sounds comparable to the hardware equivalent of the Silicon Graphics chips, but without a high level library like the GL library, it may be too much of a pain to program. What would be involved in setting up a three-dimensional object with several colored light sources and doing real-time rotation? My main interest is scientific visualization, e.g., taking three-dimensional scalar fields from a CRAY simulation (e.g., the x velocity component as a function of x,y,z and t), rendering them, and rotating them to get some intuition about their structure. The ability to compress and store animations on a disk sounds like a big plus, as well as the ability to write NTSC to a video recorder. If there is interest, I'll summarize replies to the net. Henry
