[comp.sys.next] Emacs---bugfix for NeXTStep Interface

phd_ivo@gsbacd.uchicago.edu (10/05/90)

*******************************************************************

Due to popular demand, here is the fix for EtermView.m:

119a120,127
> /* NXTextFontInfo appears to be broken for screen fonts, so wait until now to get it */
>
>     {
>       Font *screenfont = [displayFont screenFont];
>       if (screenfont) displayFont = screenfont;
>     }
>
>

This does the trick for me. After applying this fix (to the Emacs1.0.tar.Z
distribution, as it exists for example on sonata.cc.purdue.edu), you will no
longer get random dots to remain on the screen.

I should also add that I did not invent this, although I can't remember the
kind soul who gave me this fix and to whom credit should go.

The fix posted by ivo welch is in Emacs 1.1 which is currently in beta
test and should be released within a week or two. It might be a good
idea to simply wait for the new release.

I too can't remember the author of that particular fix, though I
suspect it's one of the numerous tweaks by Scott Deerwester.
