I don't know how much of this is NeXT-specific, and I don't have anyone here to ask, so forgive me if this is inappropriate: I have a NeXT at home. I recently bought a modem. I've never "modem"ed before. I use tip to dial in to the machine at school. I use "~t" and "~p" to transfer files back and forth. My modem is a Hayes. 1. How do I transfer non-text files from school to my NeXT? Whevever I try to transfer things like an image file or a compressed file, or whatever, it invariably hits something it interprets as an EOF, and I get a mess all over my screen rather than a file in my directory. 2. How do I get my modem to hang up? I can logout from the remote machine and use "~." or "~^D" to disconnect, but my modem still stays on the line. I have to crawl under my desk and unplug the modem from the wall to get it to free up the phone. This is a pain. Thanks in advance to any of you who respond (via email, preferably). Maybe if I can get this to work, I'll submit an App or two to the sites. _____________________________________________________________________ Jeff & Tamara Adams (or at least one of us) -- _____________________________________________________________________ Jeff & Tamara Adams (or at least one of us)
