Are there any companies writing accounting or tax software for the NeXT? I know an accountant who is going to purchase a computer within the next 6 months. I suggested the NeXT but I'm not sure if the software will be available. -Mike

Our package is not necessarily the sort that your accountant-friend would want, but it currently exists on generic UNIX and the original, non-graphics, non-sound port to NeXT should be easy, so a preliminary version should be ready pretty quickly. (We're waiting for our first cube-plus-coupon to arrive to begin work on it.) Characteristics: + proven in use on UNIX machines since 1986 -- no known bugs remain + user-friendly interface with mnemonic account codes, not numbers + lots of special stuff to make life easy for stock & bond investors + flexible data-extraction and reporting (input to your own awk script) + impossible to enter transaction unless debits == credits + commentary (up to 8 lines) possible on every transaction - no special modules for inventory, capital assets, receivables, payables - intended for large individuals & small businesses, not big businesses - initial port will be the existing code, with no graphics or sound - no tax stuff is included -- Irving Wolfe Happy Man Corp. irv@happym.wa.com 206/463-9399 ext.101 4410 SW Point Robinson Road, Vashon Island, WA 98070-7399 fax ext.116 SOLID VALUE, the investment letter for Benj.
