Here is a bit of net.wisdom for anyone considering a Fujitsu M2263SA disk on their NeXT. You will need to remove jumpers 1 and 8 from the CNH2 block (Inquiry enable and Syncronous data transfer enable) on the disk, and add the entries below to your /etc/disktab. The partitions are 256Mb for "a" and 415Mb for "b". This is small for the "a" partition - a complete 1.0a system is about 207Mb. If you want different partitions you will have to mess around with the pa, sa, pb and sb fields. It is a good, fast, and inexpensive disk. Slightly noisier than other SCSI disks I have played with. --- Marc Majka - System Manager UBC Computer Science +++ append to /etc/disktab +++ # Fujitsu M2263S 671MB 5.25" drive with 512 byte sectors # M2263S - One partition M2263S-512-ALL|Fujitsu 671MB w/512 byte sectors as 1 partition:\ :ty=fixed_rw_scsi:nc#1658:nt#15:ns#53:ss#1024:rm#3600:\ :fp#160:bp#0:ng#0:gs#0:ga#0:ao#0:\ :os=sdmach:z0#32:z1#96:ro=a:\ :pa#0:sa#655875:ba#8192:fa#1024:ca#32:da#4096:ra#10:oa=time:\ :ia:ta=4.3BSD: # M2263S - Two partitions M2263S-512|FUJITSU M2263S-512|Fujitsu 671MB w/512 byte sectors:\ :ty=fixed_rw_scsi:nc#1658:nt#15:ns#53:ss#1024:rm#3600:\ :fp#160:bp#0:ng#0:gs#0:ga#0:ao#0:\ :os=sdmach:z0#32:z1#96:ro=a:\ :pa#0:sa#250425:ba#8192:fa#1024:ca#32:da#4096:ra#10:oa=time:\ :ia:ta=4.3BSD:\ :pb#250425:sb#405450:bb#8192:fb#1024:cb#32:db#8192:rb#10:ob=time:\ :ib:tb=4.3BSD:
