the following brain-buster was intercepted on another newsgroup and is offered for your thinking pleasure. The best solution will receive a large symbolic slap on the back and will be placed immediately into consideration for a position as judge for next year's Miss America pageant in Atlantic City. Can the NeXT do this? Mathematica to LISP interface Does anyone know of a package that provides a means of calling Mathematica from Common Lisp? We would like to start up a Mathematica process from LISP (Lucid running on Sparcs and DecStations) either locally, or remotely. Ideally, the interface would take an LISP sexp, map it to a FullForm Mathematica form, send it to Mathematica, and translate the FullForm of the Mathematica result back to an sexp. Otherwise, an interface that provides a means of passing a string to (and getting strings back from) Mathematica would be a good start.
