[net.auto] Summary on Keeping Black Bumpers Black

delbene@homxa.UUCP (K.DELBENE) (10/15/85)

Thanks for the replies on my problem of getting wax off my MGB's
black bumpers. I tried responding to all respondies, but unfortunately
got quite a few of my responses back as having improper addresses. Well,
here are the suggestions I received:

	1) Use a product such as "Black Chrome" by Turtle Wax.

	2) Don't use such a product, because it won't last.

	3) Don't use such a product, because it isn't made for
	   rubber bumpers ( wrongo!)

	4) Such products are simply overpriced gel coat polishes.
Get the generic stuff at the hardware store.

	5) Try Tar and Wax Remover.

Well, I tried Black Chrome, being unable to find the generic stuff at
the hardware stores visited. It's been on for about two weeks and
looks great. People suggested it will last about a month and then
fade, but I figure I can always apply more. And besides, I think the
actual wax marks are gone for good. I didn't try tar and wax remover,
since the other stuff worked so well.

Thanks again for all the responses!
