"ps aux" lists my LP daemon as occupying 16 meg of virtual space. This seems just the teensiest bit excessive to me, since I don't print much, and print mostly enscripted ASCII. My window server is only 10M, and the kernel task is 14.4M (which I presume is due to having to maintain page tables). Why is lpd so huge? Does it have a known memory leak? Can I regain a lot of virtual space by killing it and restarting it? I care because I don't have a lot of spare space for a huge swapfile. -- Geoff Kuenning geoff@ITcorp.com uunet!desint!geoff
