I have a basic cube, running 1.0a software in a multiuser environment hooked to a backbone. phew! Anyway, I am having several problems, but they might be related. 1. In emacs, my .emacs file asks for time to load, but instead it does not and I get the "time and load" in the text window at the bottom. When I C-x C-c out, I get the message, "subprocesses are still running, are you sure you want to quit?" This is caused by the time and load deal. I remove it, and the message goes away. This problem is intermittent. 2. A user gets on the NeXT machine itself, and executes the terminal shell. When the user logs out of the next, for some reason the terminal process goes into limbo land, and even though the next displays a login window, the user is still listed in "who". 3. Last but not least, I am trying to ftp out to the real world, but I keep getting the message "ftp: connect: Network is unreachable". I used to be able to do this on this NeXT, but we recently had to re-configure it due to an OD failure. Am I missing a file that tells it about the outside world? 4. Does anyone know the address of Eric Larson at NeXT, and the address for the "ask next" deal? I can't seem to get a good path to either one. I know this is long folks, sorry about that. I know it's Friday too. If anyone can email me a response, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks, Charles -- !===========================================================================! ! Charles H.
