[comp.sys.next] Cube fans

This is clearly a problem about which much discussion has already
taken place, but being a recent convert, I missed it.

Caught up in the enthusiasm of recent discussion, I rushed right down
to BusinessLand and picked up an '030 cube with internal 330 (actually
345....) Mbyte drive to hold me until an '040 upgrade arrives. But I
discover that the demo model I got has a fan that blows air out the
back, which means it sucks air (and dust) in through the optical
drive. I gather that more recent cubes (including all new ones) have
the fan blowing the othyer way, to save the optical drive. And that
the filter that comes with the upgrade will be totally useless with a
fan that blow the way mine does.

The question, obviously, is whether it's possible to change this fan
for one that works the other way. Maybe if I reverse the plug in the
AC socket?.... :-)

Maybe I'm just going to have to pay the price of apostasy (as a
sometime Mac-ophile). But I hope it's only a few bucks.
