Daugherity. I think only two solutions are acceptable. The first one is from IBM. They have a lot of trouble with their rs6000 mostly because of the lack of software(a question of time IMHO). IBM have NeXtStep (licenced from NeXT Corp) and may would developp more actively their cooperation for the future... RThe other one is : Motorola 88xxx. We know that NeXT have very good relationship with Motorola. NeXT helped them by debugging the 040 recently... and i think that it is of mutual interest to cooperate as much as possible. Dont forget that the 88xxx series was not very successful ... On the other hand, Moto claims to get 60 to 80 MIPS with the next generation of 88xxx processors. That sounds great for me ! :) IBM will also improve their chip by a factor of 3 or 4 (in speed). That is my opinion. Phil phil@cnam.cnam.fr
