Well, after a year of using an optical-only 40Mb accerleator NeXT,
I am ready to upgrade to the 040 and 2.0. NeXT recommends that
as a "minimum configuration", I should order 2.0 on a 105Mb hard disk.
Unfortunately, the 105Mb configuration won't let me continue the
development I've already been doing under 1.0. I thought the perfect
solution was the combined floppy disk (1.44Mb) and 200Mb external
SCSI enclosure from Pacific Microelectronics. After all, that would
allow me to continue using the 40Mb swap disk and I could get 2.0 on
an optical. But, presumably Lotus Improv and all other future
software distribution will be on 2.88Mb media that the Pacific Micro
drive can't read. Can anyone suggest any ideas about how to get a
configuration that includes 2.88 disks, amd will enable me to continue
development work on the 040? (I would like to preserve the 40Mb
accelerator if possible.)
I liked the no-hassle option with Pacific Micro., but I've stated
my fears above. I would like to avoid the difficulties of hacking
together external SCSI "stuff" if possible. I have approximately
$1400 to spend and SCSI devices.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give me.
