Well, I just set up my DecStation 5000 this morning.  I'm sure the 
SparcStation 2s are on their way, but hey - the DECstation is here 
right now, and it sure is fast for a <20K box.  But hey, I like everybody's
machines.  NeXT, SUN, DEC, whatever... I've got no real preferences.

As far as clock speeds et.al., just to toss another number in the pile:
the fastest machine in the world (obviously for certain tasks, but I've 
gotten < 1 gigaflop sustained, and seen 9 Gflops sustained for 9 hours)
the Connection Machine-2 System by Thinking Machines, has a clock speed
of 7Mhz.  Course, their are 2048 little Weiteks buzzing away in there...

How does this relate to the NeXT?  Well, the black cube design of the NeXT
was directly inspired by the design of the CM.  It's a fact...
