Does anyone know how the Codec and the DAC are tied into the DSP ? I looked through the system manuals and the only reference I can find is that you can either talk with the Codec or the DAC through mach devices drivers directly or patch them into the DSP. I guess a Block diagram showing the connections and signal names on the DSP would be nice. Does the Sound toolkit as used in the Sound examples talk directly to the Codec and DAC, or do they always go through the DSP to play sound. Also, I looked at the 56000/56001 manual to determine how to hook up extra ADC's to get higher resolution audio input than the 8bit, 8Khz mike input. Anyone have any suggestions on what to hook up to the DSP connector to get 16Bit Stereo input at 22/44Khz sampling rate ? I'm sure I could kludge something together, but I want it to be compatible with other devices that may already be available. Something else I may be interested in is what interface chips (Codecs etc.) are available that will let me hook up the DSP to an analog phone line. How about ISDN ? Are there any docs available from NeXT that go a little more in depth about the hardware and interfaces on the NeXT than the online docs. ? There is a "Technical Manual" for the NeXT (for $95), will that tell me more ? -ingo -- /* Ingo Cyliax ECN, Electrical Engineering Bldg. * * cyliax@ecn.purdue.edu Purdue University, W.
