I just saw this stuff on the atari newsgroup, could anyone explain these
prices. The educational price here at the U of A is about $1,000 more!
Can other people buy from here?

dkoski@hercules.as.arizona.edu (David Koski) (11/28/90)

Do these prices include evrything? The guy that mailed them to me only sent
this, but I just saw the original article on this newsgroup. The NeXTstation
comes to $3370. Here at the U of A, the same system is $3205 for comparison.
Sorry about the confusion.

You should check the price list again. Our prices (U of A) are actually
a few hundred dollars cheaper than this list shows. Did you forget
to add the price of a monitor???

The UT Microcenter educational price for the NeXTstation that retails for
$4995 is $3370. Note that the prices that you referenced are the
unbundled prices and do not include the monochrome display ($785) or the
required starting point kit ($175). The actual price is probably pretty
close to what you would have to pay at U of A. The only people that
can buy from the UT microcenter are full time UT students or faculty
(not that anyone else would want too :-).

Please note that this is the price for the CPU box only, and doesn't include
the monitor, manuals, and other stuff in the "Starting Point Kit".

I think the reason things are priced higher in Arizona is in
retaliation for the state voting against the Martin Luther King
holiday.

The above is just the cpu (which costs $2367 at the U of Iowa).
You'll also need:

  N4000A MegaPixel Mono Monitor $696.00
  N8509 NeXTStation Starting Point Kit (US-Eng) $157.00

I take it the starting point kit is the keyboard?

Actually, it is the keyboard, mouse, power cord, display cable, keyboard
tilt feet, and user manuals.

There are 4 different starting point kits (SPK):

  N8509 NeXTStation SPK
  N8518 NeXTStation Color SPK
  N8500 NeXTCube SPK
  N8527 NeXTDimension SPK
