[comp.sys.next] Businessland and the "Fire sale Cubes"

ph600fbj@sdcc14.ucsd.edu (james dehnert) (11/30/90)

Thanks to all the people who wrote me.

Well, I finally got my cube 2 weeks to the day after I ordered it.
My salesman was very humble and sorry it took so long [ at least
while I was in range of his voice ] but it is here.
One of the letters mentioned that the salesmans 40 Mac purchase buy
with it's coresponding commision will, of course, take precident
over the half price NeXT sale to the student who just spent half of
his yearly income [ forgive my paraphrasing ]. How true.
On the other hand I have gotten a number of horror stories about
Viking shipping. Everything from 2 computers and no monitors, to
boxes full of bullet holes [ bullets included!! ].
The wait, of course, pissed me off, but having my little black cube
now makes me forget about the wait. I would have been alot more
understanding if I had been told up front "2 weeks", but nooooo...
I suppose there is a lession to be learned here, about half price
sales, the joy of shipping companies, and sales people on commision.
This lession is certainly not lost on me, but at least I have my
cube now, and I wont have to deal with B-Land anymore.
