[net.auto] Pulling the dashboard off of a Honda Civic

rafaeld@teklabs.UUCP (Rafael De Arce) (10/24/85)

Someone mentioned that their heat exchange on the Honda they owned developed
a leak and the repair estimate was approximately 500 dollars.

I have the same car as you do (except two yrs. older). I decided to put a new
radio in the car. That required removing the dashboard. I was nervous at first
but found that the job was not as I had expected. Removal time was only one
hour.

The dash is held on by about six bolts. All you have to do is prop the dash-
board to keep it from falling.

The steering wheel need not be removed. Just loosen the bolts under the dash
and let the steering wheel rest on the drivers seat.

Re-assembly is just as easy.

Just make sure your wife is close by to hand you things during assembly.
You're going to have your hands full!

The job is not a piece of cake but for a days worth of work, you can save some
money and spend it on something you really like.

One more thing... read the manual before you start the job. (Some people read
as they go.) That way their will be no surprises.
