In a previous post about my SIMM problem I mentioned the deal I got on my NeXT cube. I have gotten a couple of email inquiries about this so I thought I would post it. It was actually posted about six weeks ago(by someone in Texas, I believe, but I have forgotten(my apology to the previous poster)). I never saw any follow up to that post-I think it got lost in the BL fire sale. Anyway, here's the deal--NeXT with your campus rep is selling 030 cubes with 330 and 660 HD(the "developers kit".) I got the 330 so I can only speak for it(the 660 will be higher in price but I don't know the amount.) For $6692 you get The 030 cube with 330(Maxor full height) HD and OD Monitor(old style, but if stock runs out, you could get the new style with built in mic) The 040 upgrade and 2.0 upgrade(with Improv card) An external 2.88 floppy drive. Looking inside the cube, it is actully the new design(ie, the fan blows the right way and there are four drive mount screws, so in the future if you wanted to go to half height there would be no problem.) This deal seems comparable to the BL "new" 030 cube for $5295 and getting the university upgrade for $1495 (=$6790, assuming I correctly remembered the prices) except the university deal throws in the external floppy. It took about four weeks for the 030 cube to arrive. I should(??) get the 2.0 shortly. I don't expect to see the 040 board till well into next year. I have no idea if this offer is still available. -Charlie
