YYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHAAAAAAHHHH! Or, as the French say, "Youpie!" As it happens, I'm all happy because I just put a deposit on a NeXT that I got at a very good deal: '030 cube 660 Meg hard disk Optical drive '040 upgrade (when it arrives) External floppy Lotus Improv ...all for Can. $10,219, through my local university bookstore. Better yet, I got 4 opticals (old stock, people don't buy many in the Great White North) for Can. $ 79 each (!) I have reason to believe that these are the last subsidized optical disks on the continent. But I do have a serious question out there... I have been working with data acquisition on the Mac II using the MICRON NuBus > CAMAC interface to control a CAMAC crate. Is there anything comparable for the NeXT? This was a really neat memory mapped interface t that was super - fast and didn't require a driver - everything was memory mapped to the Mac's address space. If you know if anything like this exists, please email me. Yours truly, Anthony Berno. PS. If anyone out there is looking to hire a student for the summer, I'm available. I have good Mac programming skills and have been working for Lawrence Livermore Nat'l Labs putting together a data collection system for accelerator mass spectrometry experiments. I'm very productive and have excellent references. I'm also VERY interested in working with the NeXT in scientific applications. Email me for more info.
