I finally got a beta version up that I am satisfied enough w/to actually release... so here it is: I have uploaded iSize version 2.0b5 to {nova,sonata}.cc.purdue.edu -- it is currently in the submissions directory. Remember iDrag? iSize is a useful extension of that: you drag a file/folder to the appIcon (either on the dock or the bottom of the screen: 2.0 fixed that problem) and iSize will size the file/folder using either "du -s" or a recursive sizer (preference option) and report the size in a text field that appears on the icon... The app is basically 2.0 only-- requires slight modification to compile under 1.0. Comments: I find it more convenient than the inspector under 2.0's workspace manager. Also, since it provides two methods of sizing, it is actually useful as the indicator how large a tar file might be after a folder is tar'd. Thoughts/Warnings: The "du -s" stuff isn't terribly robust-- I haven't gotten to that part yet. Also, the recursive routine may or may not be totally accurate-- that hasn't been properly tested yet, either. The source code is all there and completely readable; all I ask is that if anyone changes anything, they pass it through me and I will re-release (with full credits, of course). Future: I'm going to postscriptize the damn icon; it is kinda ugly right now... There may be some other file options added at a later date also; tar, compress, uncompress, and all that rot. I will be out of town (and the country) until Jan. 3 or so-- comments will pile up, but I'll read and respond eventually... b.bum b.bumgarner | Disclaimer: standard. wb1j+@andrew.cmu.edu | This is what it looks like NeXT Campus Consultant | when I roll my head on the keyboard: zxscr4t5jyik-8bn5xdvrtnbumk=-io86xe3ui8y6dt5mji,-8nt5sqcvt5mju,cdvbynmki7vb
