This has happened a few times. The mouse stops tracking, although
the buttons do register their selection. When the mouse doesn't
track, the automatic screen dimming does not work. Logins from the
network are unaffected, but there is not much you can do from
the console if the mouse doesn't track.
We've moved the mouse and keyboard to another cube, and the problem
doesn't seem to move with them. A reboot, and even a brief powerdown
doesn't help. It does look like the problem goes away after a long
powerdown, which suggests a heating problem.
Anyone seen anything like this?
