i just bought a Honda Prelude Si and it comes with Michelin MXV tires. they are all seasons based upon what the dealer tells me and my examination of the tread. i can't tell if the tires are H rated (max 130mph) or not, not that i intend to drive that fast. does anyone know more about these tires? assuming there is room for it and i'm rich enough, would a Plus-1 set of tires and wheels have a noticable improvement in handling? mine are 185/70R13's. how about Plus-2? also, my tires are mounted on alloy wheels (standard equip) and there is a lot of highway salt usage around here (just north of New York City). how often should i rinse off the wheels to prevent any salt damage? what things affect this (ie, scratches in the coating, temperature, etc). i have been told that periodically (every 3 years?), i need to have the inside of the wheels coated to keep them airtight. does anyone know more about this? the air is fairly humid around here and it also gets cold enough in the winter for fairly long freezing spells. the combination can cause icing in the fuel system and that can play havoc with my fuel injection system. what kind of gas-line antifreezes are there and what should i look out for? what are they made of. please send e-mail as i only occasionally read this newsgroup unless you feel that your reply is of general interest. PS. this is my first car and i've never had to ALL the maintainance and stuff like that before, so bear with me. Herb Chong... I'm still user-friendly -- I don't byte, I nybble....
