[comp.sys.next] installing a shell in 2.0

agm@cs.brown.edu (Axel Merk) (12/14/90)

Yes, we got the 2.0 upgrades - studying for exams, I don't have the
time to share all my feelings about the upgrade right now, but let me
mention one problem I ran into and the solution to it:

After installing 2.0, I powered the machine down and back up (still
with the 030 board). The Problem: The Cube refused to accept any of
the users on the system, more specifically a panel came up telling me
that the shell used is refused.

The fix: Any shell must be registered in /etc/shells in Release 2.0

Happy holiday,

Axel
