Hi, I'm a fairly new NeXT person, consider me at user-level (as opposed to NeXT programmer [for now..]). If and when replying to this question, please stay at a fair layman level, since I'm not familiar with NeXT programming, ie. all their objects and things. My question deals with images. Currently, I can display gif images via xgif on a DECstation 3100, sun's, SGI's, anything running X11. If and when I get my NeXT, I'd like to display these types of files on the NeXT. I believe that the NeXT deals mostly with tiff image formats. I think that once X11R4 comes out for the NeXT, it may be possible to port over the xgif program, and then continue with gif images as usual. Until then (X11R4), is there any way to say convert gif images to tiff images? Or is there a way to display gif images directly? The latter would be preferrable. Currently, I can display gif images via the gif -> postscript -> Preview route, but that's sort of laborious. Comments, suggestions are welcome. Please email to andrewd@cs.tamu.edu, or post to comp.sys.next. I prefer constructive criticism over flames. -Andrew andrewd@cs.tamu.edu
