[comp.sys.next] floppy disk drives

glenn@heaven.woodside.ca.us (Glenn Reid) (12/20/90)

I posted a question a few weeks back about floppy disk drives, and
whether or not anyone had had successes/failures with PLI, the company
that was recommended as the supplier for external floppy drives.

Well, in the intervening weeks, after having great difficulty getting
PLI to return any of my phone calls, I got a lead from someone at
NeXT to call a different company, DIT (Digital Instrumentation Technology)
in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

To make a long story short, DIT is great. I received my drive within
about 3 or 4 days of having made my initial phone call, and it seems
to be a good product.

By contrast, PLI has had my order for more than *three months* and
don't even seem to feel bad about that. Not bad enough to call me,
at least, even when I call them half a dozen times. They didn't
even bother to call me when I left a message to cancel my order!

Based on my own experience, I would recommend calling the folks at
DIT, who not only delivered product, they were very nice and returned
all my phone calls.

I have no connection with them other than being a satisfied customer.
Here's how to get a hold of them:

	Digital Instrumentation Technology, Inc.
	901 18th Street #1100
	Los Alamos, NM 87544
	505-662-1459
