[comp.sys.next] good keyboard news.

dd26+@andrew.cmu.edu (Douglas F. DeJulio) (12/20/90)

I just phone the 1-800 number for NeXT to tell them about my problems
with their newest keyboard and ask for solutions. They told me that I
could order an old style keyboard from my campus computer store. I
can buy a new old one with the backslash in a sane position. Huray!

But is there a NeXT keyboard with the ~ in the right place? It's horrendous
where it is now.

I dunno, what it seems to be that the old keyboard/new keyboard will
finish like the new/old Coca Cola. :-)

Cheers,

Excuse me for being a bit rude, but I hardly think that it is good news that
they swap the keyboards on you, and then tell you you are fortunate to
be able to buy a functional one. Next they will package a 100 by 100
kiloPel monitor, and then tell you are lucky you can fork out $$$ to buy
a real one. The micro-computer store here sold me a keyboard once
when I fill my old one with coffee... It costs $125... and you do not
get to keep the old one.

I'm not sure how well known this is, but shift-ESC will produce a ~
very nicely :)

Beats where it's at on regular non-extended Mac keyboards! blech.
