A student just showed me how to add files to Digital Librarian's shelf by editing /NextApps/Librarian.app/targets/targetFile in the obvious fashion; what's not obvious is how to associate an icon with an entry (and I didn't see it in the on-line documentation). Anybody know? Thanks! -- Walter C. Why don't you just drag the folder from the Browser into Digital Librarian? This is a heck of a lot easier to do, plus it will make it less system-wide (it creates a 'targets' directory in ~/.NeXT) instead of changing what everyone sees when they start DL. >what's not obvious is how to associate an icon with an entry >(and I didn't see it in the on-line documentation). Anybody know? Sure, DL looks for a file named icon.tiff in the .index directory that is created after you index the target. Bryce Jasmer jasmerb@ohsu.edu

It's much easier than that in 2.0: just create a file called .dir.tiff in your documentation directory - not only will Digital Librarian see the icon, but the view will too. Thank God that we don't have to putz around with the .index directory and whatnot anymore. You can replace the standard directory folder icon of any directory (including the crummy "little house" icon that represents your home directory) with your own cool custom icon. On a related subject, where are the system icons stored? (eg the Recycling Center or NeXT Workspace Manager Icons) Tyler
