. . . - - - . . . I've got a VW GOLF and it's got a problem. When it rains the seat belt gets wet. Somehow, water gets in the panel that houses the roller for the belt. And when I go to buckle up, (the law in NJ) the strap is saturated. I took the car to a dealer a few weeks ago for this problem and they replaced the rubber molding on the inside of the door (warranty). Today is the first day it's rained since then, and when I pulled the belt out it was--and still is--soaked. Needless to say, this is really distressing. Not only is the seat belt out of commission on rainy days, but what about the body of the car? Is there a buildup of water in the panel that houses the seat belt? Will it rust? Should I dump this car? And what if I get pulled over for not wearing a seat belt? "Sorry officer it's wet right now, but I'll put it on when it dries." HELP! If I could get *any* suggestions as to how the belt is getting soaked, I'd greatly appreciate it. Anything will help. I'll post the responses, and what the dealer has to say and offer.
