I'm sorry for being slow to respond to questions about X on the net. I was involved in a whirlwind of activity over the past week (& weekend). I can shed light on a few points: 1. We are giving technical support to two vendors who are porting X11R4 to our platform. Pencom has announced their product. 2. The products are being designed to work in a window, in harmony with the NeXTstep environment. 3. We think customers will benefit from their efforts in two important ways; (a) for use as a migration path -- much like the DOS emulator which we enthusiastically support, and (b) as an aid to operating in a heterogeneous environment. 4. We wish we had the resources to to support everyone, but alas we are limited. 5. We're certainly not opposed to public domain programs, but we don't want to publish information that may change (info outside the API). For our customer's sake, we want to insure that all applications are compatible with future releases of NeXTstep. Chris MacAskill Developer Advocate NeXT Computer, Inc.
