[comp.sys.next] Help!!

A couple of weeks ago, I became the proud owner of a new '030 cube.
Today it failed to boot from the OD. I powered on, waited for system
test and then inserted the OD as usual. The OD icon spun for about one
second and then stopped. The magic command-sequences and power off
keys did nothing, so I pulled the plug. Next, I powered on and interrupted
the boot sequence with command-~. I tried bod -s from the monitor.
Result: the boot sequence got as far as informing me that I have
16 buffers containing .12M of memory and then stopped. No sound of
a spinning disc. So what's wrong? Is it a bad optical drive unit? A
bad OD? I'm still under warranty, but I hate to have to pack up the damn
thing and haul it off to UPS if that can be avoided. Can anyone offer
any pointers?
