[comp.sys.next] powering off the printer and FAQ -- Question #1

mdixon@parc.xerox.com (Mike Dixon) (01/16/91)

(oops. i recently switched from gnus to nn, which seems to be eat the last
line of my postings).

wrt powering off the printer, what i tried to say was
check out the 'nppower' command. i 'nppower off' my printer when i
don't expect to use it for a while, and it's automatically powered
-> on the next time i print something (you don't need to 'nppower on')

wrt to ftping, what i tried to say was
actually, just transfer everything in binary mode. (text mode just
gives you lf/cr conversions between unlike OS's, but for unix-to-unix
-> transfers you don't need it and are better off without it.)

(eat *this* line, if you must)
