[net.auto] Info on Toyota Celica Supra

micci@nvuxg.UUCP (D M Dennee) (10/28/85)

The time is finally here when I can actually buy my first new
car! Though I haven't started doing serious looking (waiting
for my "ship" to come in in a month or so), I've pretty much
decided that I want a Toyota Celica Supra. (1986).
Does anyone have an idea of what sort of price I might expect
to pay? Any of the following info would also be appreciated:
(from present Toyota owners)
	- Supra good points
	- Supra bad points
	- Snow handling
	- gas mileage
	- Options to get/avoid
	- Best dealer in NJ area to go to

Also, what kind of insurance costs can an under 25 female with
one property damage (in NY state) accident on her record expect
to pay (Insurance agency recommendations appreciated).
(to clarify, the accident was in NY. I now live in NJ and need
to know NJ insurance costs, NOT NY)

Thanks in advance,

The Supra is extremely fun to drive, very powerfull, and has excellent seats
and stereo. The sunroof is a must, leather seats are nice. I bought my Supra in Toms River, New Jersey. I was living in Boston at the time and the dealership there ran ads in the New York times.

The dealership was Gateway Toyota, however there was a number to call, some sort of buying service, 201-286-2700, which will give you a firm price over the phone and give you a delivery date. I bought my Supra with leather and sunroof, the sticker was $18,100, I paid 15,800. There was never any attempt to jack up
the price or add on unwanted items such as rustproofing, etc. When you call the
above number, the service is prompt, but abrupt. They will ask you for a $50
down payment if you decide to order the car which can be put on a credit card.
The nice thing about this arrangement was that I think I got the best price on
the car with no haggling.

The downside of Supra owning is gas mileage. Expect to get around 20 in the cityand 25 on the highway(on premium gas). If you need any more info or have questions reply to ihnp4!infoswx!robert.

< the sticker was $18,100, I paid 15,800.

I was at Hudson Toyota (NJ) this weekend, and recieved a price of 15,000 on
a loaded '86 Supra. Remember, though... the car is being redesigned at mid-
year, so they are "giving them away." Wait for the new ones to be announced.
You may like it better. Even if you don't, the dealers will be forced to sel
the older style at really low prices.
