For those looking for 4MB/80ns/4x8 SIMMS that will fit in the 030 NeXT without taking any special steps, I can report that those available from Peripheral Outlet (brandname is NMB) do fit and have been functioning for the last hour or so without any problems. When installed, the SIMMS rise to the same height above the CPU board as do the original NeXT SIMMS. These SIMMS cost $189 each (3% surcharge on VISA or MASTERCARD, COD accepted, $11 shipping - I received them two days after I ordered - 1-800-332-6581). Again, I'm not by any means recommending that anyone buy or not buy these SIMMS - I just thought this info might be useful to at least some of you. This will be my last message on the subject that I foresee :-). BTW, after going from 8MB to 24MB, the machine has experienced virtually no swapping even though I launched every app in the (full) dock. Prior to the upgrade, doing this caused the machine to crawl to a halt... -- John Garnett University of Texas at Austin garnett@cs.utexas.edu Department of Computer Science Austin, Texas
