[net.auto] ABS braking systems

I am curious about whether or not anti-lock brakes are desirable/prevalent
on performance vehicles (non production). I haven't heard of any using
them, but then I really wouldn't know... Why would you ever "want" to
lock your wheels at speed (J turns excluded)?

You wouldn't --- that's why ABS systems are being introduced (by Ford,
GM, Mercedes, Audi, ...). Alas, ABS is not cheap and so will be
restricted to upmarket cars for the next few years. Anti-lock brakes
have been around in Europe for a while, but they were not introduced
in North America previously as manufacturers feared lawsuits stemming
from accidents.

If you consider jet aircraft performance vehicles, then you have heard of
the main use of ABS braking systems.
