[comp.sys.next] Optical disk uncertainty

osborn@cs.utexas.edu (John Howard Osborn) (02/05/91)

I've heard that the double-sided optical disks that some people are selling
can hurt your optical drive. I'd like to shoot this rumor down, so if
anybody has some hard facts, please post. (OD-drives seem to be flaky
enough without problems like this pushing them over the edge.)

If this is true, then my OD doesn't seem to care. I've been using
double-sided OD cartridges for over a month now (optical out - flip -
optical in) and I've had no problems.
