Just a word about the color of the hardware case. A friend just bought a
Telebit T2500 modem (incredible modem!) for his cube and it came with the
standard off-white type of color. We took it apart and he proceeded to
spray paint the case black. It looked fantastic when it was done! I was
thoroughly impressed.

He used an quick-drying, industrial-grade, flat black paint. The whole
process of new off-white modem to configured and running black modem took
somewhere around an hour.

Hey why stop with black? My cube was painted hot pink over year ago,
it really looks sharp with the disk plate still black and next logo intact. It is
the first "color-ed NeXT" machine.

I know of at least one computer store that will take a computer (they
usually do Macintoshes) and custom paint the case. I'd imagine they
would do peripherals, as well. I've seen some pretty wild Macs come
out of their store. My favorites were the camouflaged SE, and especially
the grey and black marbled one.

Just wait till he has to ship it back to Telebit for replacement under
warranty...
