I haven't seen anyone here mention that GNU tar is another possibility for creating multivolume floppy backups. I've been using GNU tar for this purpose for about a month, and it seems to be working. If I back up a tree, restore it somewhere else from floppies, diff -r produces no output on regular files. Is anyone else using GNU tar, and has anyone gotten burned doing this?
