A week or two ago. Doug Brenner (dbrenner@sparta.weeg.uiowa.edu) uploaded two enormous files to sonata.cc.purdue.edu (/pub/next/misc). The larger (almost 2mb), Fonts-1.0-free.tar.Z, contains 32 public domain postscript fonts, complete with *.afm files, that he, Brenner, has converted to work on the Next; the second, and somewhat smaller file, Fonts-2.0-sw.tar.Z, is similar but contains 20 shareware fonts. I have downloaded all these fonts, installed them on my NeXTstation, and they work wonderfully (except that one, BenjaminCaps, is broken). The quality and "novelty value" vary, but the best are quite good. Why point all this out again? Because Brenner must have done an enormous amount of work -- and I REALLY appreciate it. I'll bet I speak for a lot of people when I say, Thanks Doug! -- John
